Affective turn of political communication on social media

1 This dissertation examines the transformations of political communication through the lens of the affective turn explaining the interrelationships between the energy of the political leader, the subsequent intersubjective process of emotional energy production among his supporters, ritual and parasocial relations, and the establishing of political fandom. The thesis explores individual phenomena through virtual ethnography, taking the paralinguistic and phatic aspects of communication as the defining features of affective expressions. The analytical part of the thesis explores the Přísaha movement, its leader Robert Šlachta and the movement's Facebook community as representative of this broader phenomenon. In particular, the dissertation highlights the uniqueness of the resulting synergy creating political fandom and the fact that despite strategically managed and inauthentic communication, the resulting emotions of the supporters are authentic, and they experience intense feelings of hope, courage, love or care. The energy of the leader himself is the primary stimulus that draws followers into the movement, and encourages their activity. Privacy protection and profiling

The bachelor thesis deals mainly with the issue of the right to privacy and data protection in the context of social network sites and ongoing user profiling. The theoretical part specifies the legislative of these concepts and then focuses on social network sites and their privacy violations. The thesis also specifies the social network site TikTok, ongoing user profiling, personal data collecting and ways how to stop it. The practical part of this thesis is a website which serves as an educational portal in the context of privacy protection on social network sites.
Používání a vliv Instagramu na dívky v rané adolescenci

The bachelor's thesis deals with the opportunities that the Internet provides, especially to adolescents. It provides an overview of the opportunities offered by the Internet. Furthermore, it focuses on popularity, economic functioning and risks of social networks related to the psychological development of adolescents, with a focus on the social network Instagram. The practical part focuses on the influence of Instagram on girls and their usage of it in early adolescence. This part consists of four main research areas based on the girls' responses. The form of a semi-structured interview was used to determine the attitude that girls take toward Instagram, the functions they like to use, how their adolescent personality manifests itself here or what risks they perceive here, and more. The interviews provided interesting experiences of girls, among other things, about how their use of Instagram has changed or not since its inception and during quarantine.

Thesis "Social Network Sites in Corporate Environments" deals with the theme of social network sites (Social Business) in companies. The introduction defines the concept of social network sites and Social Business and presents a brief history of social networking, with an emphasis on internal company use, especially as the developmental stage and the addition of intranet portals. The next section compares the various software solutions. In another part deals with the benefits as well as risks in the use of social network sites in companies and describes a method of analyzing social networks. Life on Facebook: Qualitative Study of the Behavior of Teenagers and Young Adults on Facebook

This master thesis aims to map the behavioral patterns of Facebook usage and the dependence of these patterns on the users' characteristics. This thesis had the goal to generate hypothesis about peoples' behavior on Facebook - what information, where and why people look for and what information, with whom and why they share. In other words, to describe "the life on Facebook" and to contribute to expanding the knowledge about Facebook's social role, its deeper theoretical reflection and to anchor Facebook more solidly into the system of media theories. In the first theoretical part I have characterized and defined Facebook, sketched its history and development, briefly summarized the studies concerned with Facebook and as well described the contemporary media studies theoretical approach to Facebook. The research itself was carried out through the series of qualitative interviews with Facebook users. Based on this data analysis I have formulated various hypotheses about peoples' behavior on Facebook, about the regularities in the way people share and search for information on Facebook. These hypotheses should serve as a basis and foundations of the subsequent quantitative research.
The Trasformation of Communication Models within Cyberspace

Diploma thesis The transformation of communication models within cyberspace deals with the topic of communication on five current social network sites (Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, YouTube and Instagram). First part of the thesis focuses on theoretical background of traditional communication models. Selected models include: Shannon and Weaver Communication Model, Cultural and Ritual Model, Jakobson's Model, Publicity Model and communication model created by Vilem Flusser and Palo Alto School. Networked communication has been undergoing fast development which has caused that some communication models became obsolete. Thus it is necessary to define new communication features on social network sites, since these changes in conjunction with technology development and needs of contemporary society. User activity, cycle and egocentric communication processes, up-to-date and spontaneous content are the characteristic features of current communication on social network sites.
Who are we and who are we becoming within social network sites?

The presented thesis aims to analyze the impact of social networking sites (SNS) in shaping our identity. Especially in the context of changes in everyday life caused by significant increase of SNS users. Unlike previous forms of online identity the identity of SNS users is anchored in the reality. Therefore our identity performance in this environment is closely tied to our real identity and real social network. Part of the thesis describe the influence of real social network on our lives, particularly the strong of weak ties is discussed. The analysis is focused on the processes and forms in which is our identity constructed and manifested within social networking sites. Detailed consideration is aimed on narrative and fragmentary characteristics of such identity. Also the consequences of total indexing of user-generated content and its persistent features are examined. This topic is followed by setting the framework of reputation management and protection of personal data. The findings of research present the forms of user identity on Facebook, the use of privacy settings and in particular the importance of the size of the networks of friends. The relationship between socialization in SNS and in the real world is described.
The effect of influencers on generation Y and their impact on its shopping behavior

This master thesis analyses the effect that online influencers have on the shopping behavior of Generation Y. Conclusions will be formed through examining qualitative research, gathered from a sample of Generation Y candidates living in the Czech Republic, in regard to how the candidates perceive influencers and their recommendations. Theories relating to the reliability of influencers, due to paid cooperation, will be studied to determine whether online users prefer classic forms of promotion. Generation Y was selected as there is evidence to suggest they are the last generation to grow up without online influencers present. The emphasis was mainly on their attitudes, opinions and real experiences. This master thesis will be divided into three areas; literature review, methodology and findings. The purpose of the literature review will be to evaluate existing theories and allow conclusions to be produced from the chosen research topic, electronic resources and professional articles were determined as reliable sources. The methodology explains the process of how the data was collected and analysed, primary research of qualitative data was collated via ten semi-structured interviews from carefully selected candidates. Social networks as primary information source during presidential elections - comparison between USA and Czech republic

Bakalářská práce se věnuje předvolební komunikaci prezidentských kandidátů na sociálních sítích. A to s ohledem na fakt, že pro zástupce generací Y a Z se internet a potažmo sociální sítě postupně stávají primárním zdrojem informací. Záměrem je porovnat, jakým způsobem používali sociální sít Facebook prezidentští kandidáti ze dvou zemí - Spojených států amerických a České republiky. V případě USA se jedná o volby z roku 2016 a kandidáty Donalda Trumpa a Hillary Clintonovou. V České republice se práce zaměřuje na volby z roku 2018 a kandidáty Miloše Zemana a Jiřího Drahoše. Problematiku nejprve uvede teoretická část, jež popisuje proměny spojené se vznikem Webu 2.0 a nástupem síťových digitálních médií. Zmíněny jsou problematické aspekty internetového prostředí. Přibližuje také sociální sítě a Facebook jakožto informační zdroj a věnuje se roli sociálních sítí v politickém marketingu. Samotná praktická část se pak soustředí na analýzu dat získaných z celkem 578 příspěvků, které výše uvedení kandidáti zveřejnili v průběhu tří týdnů před finální prezidentskou volbou. Zkoumána je četnost, typ, rozsah, tématika a zabarvení příspěvků každého kandidáta a také trendy, jež v průběhu stanového časového období vykazují. Následně jsou poznatky z obou zemí porovnávány. Instagram influencers as new opinion leaders and their role in the life of teenage girls in the Czech republic

This thesis discusses the role of Instagram influencers in the lives of Czech teenage girls aged 15-18. The aim of the thesis is to understand how girls perceive these online creators, what kind of relationship they have with them and what role they play in their lives. Emphasis is placed on real experience girls have with Instagram and with the creation of influencers. The theoretical part of the thesis summarizes relevant theories, literature and research on selected issues. The practical part of the thesis focuses on the evaluation of the research, which was carried out with the help of a qualitative research method. In total, seven semi-structured in- depth interviews were carried out with teenage girls actively using Instagram. The main finding is that Instagram influencers are a natural part of these girls' lives. Relationships between followers and online creators can be described as parasocial. In order to succeed on Instagram, an influencer must be authentic, while the degree of proximity in the influencer-follower relationship is also important. The research pointed to a possible online platform migration of both influencers and followers, where Instagram is the target platform for users to operate.
